41 FrieslandCampina members with a combined 54m kg of milk have switched to another processor between 1 July 2020 and 1 July 2021, receiving a departure bonus of €5 per 100 kg of milk. This was announced by the DMF Foundation (Dutch Milk Foundation). The application of 13 other F/C members to be allowed to leave with a bonus is still being processed.

Since the introduction of the exit scheme in July 2009, 439 F/C members have made use of the scheme and taken 512m kg of milk with them.

The exit scheme is a condition of the merger between Friesland Foods and Campina in 2008. The European Commission approved the merger on the condition that the merged company would make 1.2bn kilos of milk available to competitors, or as much less as milk from members would leave the company. In the meantime, 43% of these 1.2bn kilos have migrated from F/C.

Currently, 688m kilos of milk (57% of the original quantity) are still available for use by competitors or for exiting members. This remaining milk volume is currently mainly used to supply raw milk to Arla in Nijkerk and to the DeltaMilk cooperative.
