Dairy farming to disappear, according to Mellon

Date: 09.07.2021Source: euronews

Jim Mellon, billionaire investor and author, has published a new work: ‘Moo’s Law: An investor’s Guide to the New Agrarian Revolution’. In it, the Briton expresses his expectation that already in the next ten years, half of meat consumption will no longer come from animal processing. “Half of the world’s meat will be plant-based or from cell-based agriculture, where meat is produced in laboratories”. Mellon sees this development as beneficial in terms of human health (keywords: antibiotics, pandemics) and climate protection.

Mellon is convinced that agriculture will experience a huge upheaval, and he predicts that traditional dairy farming will disappear altogether, because “it is an industry in decline”. Farmers will simply have to find new employment, much like British miners had to do in the 1960s and 1970s.

Mellon is a supporter of Brexit and has donated large sums to pre-referendum campaigns.
