Weber Maschinenbau is celebrating its birthday: The family-owned company is 40 years old this year. And much has happened in these four decades. From a small company in central Hesse, Germany, the company has developed into a globally active world market leader. Today, Weber is a strong partner for the food industry. The company develops and produces complete slicing and packaging lines for food processing, in particular sliced meats and cheeses.

In 1981, company founder Günther Weber started his business with only two employees. Weber Fleischereitechnik GmbH initially focused on the manufacturing of derinding and skinning machines as well as on the reconditioning of used machines. However, the foundation for the company’s unique success story was laid in 1986 with the development of the first slicer. This surpassed all other machines already on the market in many respects and was thus a genuine revolution. The development of the company from this point on up to Weber’s leading position in the market today was therefore the logical consequence of this engineering feat. Over the decades, the product portfolio has been continuously further developed so that Weber can now offer complete slicing lines, from product preparation to checked primary packaging, from a single source. However, many things have not changed in 40 years of company history: Values such as partnership, empathy and love for hightech are firmly anchored in the self-image and culture of the company. This is also reflected in the company’s central objective: to make life easier for customers. Company founder Günther Weber always placed great value on building genuine partnerships, which are characterized above all by the fact that customers and their requirements are always at the center of all actions. This maxim is not only continued by Tobias Weber, who leads the company as second generation CEO, but also by all employees of the Weber Group. Listening carefully and understanding requirements in order to arrive at a perfect, individual solution. Never being satisfied and always looking for even better solutions that better fit the needs of food processing companies. This is how partnership works at Weber. And this unconditional customer focus is certainly one of the essential secrets of success of the globally successful company.

Since the company was founded, the entire product range of high-tech machines has been manufactured exclusively at five production sites in Germany. Therefore a large number of the now approximately 1,500 employees work at these five locations. The founding location in Breidenbach in central Hesse remains, with numerous expansions, the company headquarters and thus reflects the strong ties to Germany as a business location. Last but not least, “Made in Germany” contributes positively to the image of the company and its products, as this attribute is still internationally recognized as a seal of quality and a guarantee of the highest quality. At the same time, the family-owned company is active and represented worldwide: Weber Maschinenbau operates at a total of 22 locations today and also has a large number of sales and service partners in its own network. This means that the system provider is close to its customers all over the world in order to guarantee personal, direct support – in other words, practiced customer proximity.
